Meeting with Wisconsin Historical Society
Wednesday, September 23, 2009
4:00 - 5:30 PM
Curti Lounge, 5243 Humanities Bldg.
Dear Colleagues,
As many of you know, the Wisconsin Historical Society is planning to move many of its holdings to a new storage facility off campus. This is part of a larger state building and storage project that includes the Wisconsin Historical Society and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The project is designed to relieve present overcrowded archival and library facilities. Our faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates are extensive users of Wisconsin Historical Society collections. Moving some of these collections will have a major effect on our research and teaching.
Peter Gottlieb, the State Archivist and Director of the Wisconsin Historical Society Library and Archives, has generously volunteered to participate in a special town hall meeting with our department to discuss Wisconsin Historical Society plans for relocating and retrieving relocated materials, among other topics. Peter will be joined by his very able colleagues, many of whom we know from the library and archival reading room. Peter and his colleagues are very interested in hearing our thoughts, concerns, and suggestions.
All faculty and graduate students are encouraged to join this meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jeremi
